A Successful Week

Alright, I am going to take a hot minute to toot my own horn, mainly for my own encouragement.

But first,

Story of my life? I literally think this ALL of the time, anyone else?

Anyways, back to what I am proud of myself for: NOT running.

Yes, you read that right. After increasing my post-stress fracture mileage to six miles last week, my “perfect world” goal was, NO RUNNING at all this past week. I knew that was unrealistic, but hoped that by setting that as my goal, the week would end up with a healthy mix of running and cross training.

I am going to pause here for a moment. Notice I just said, “my “perfect world” goal was, NO RUNNING at all this past week. I knew that was unrealistic”…. I am calling Bull on myself. No one makes me run. It was TOTALLY realistic to have done ZERO running last week, I just did not really want to.

Just had to call myself outSmile

Here is how the week ended up looking:

The Week In Workouts

Monday: 60 minutes elliptical

Tuesday: 6 mile run, lots weighted o’ squats!

Wednesday: Off!

Thursday: 6 mile run, abs

Friday: 60 minutes elliptical, arms, hauling boxes at work (phew!)

Saturday: 45 minutes elliptical, 30 minutes stair master ( Gotta get ready for this race), abs

Sunday: 6 mile run (the only outdoor run all week)

Wohoo, three days of not running! Kelly, from one of my favorite blogs, Meals For Miles loves running even more than I . She is warding off injury and being a smarty-pants by significantly scaling back her running. I knew that if she was being cautious enough to take time away, I could as well.

That right there folks is the power of blogging, thanks for the inspiration Kelly!

Rediscovering a Forgotten Love:

This may not look like a zesty, carby, bowl of delicousness, but I promise you it is and you should eat it right now!

Every week when I walk past the canned items to buy my pumpkin/beans, what have you, I see the cans of hominy, and think to myself, “Oh! Hominy is so good buttttttt eh, maybe I’ll grab a can next week.” At a whopping 79 cents a can, this is a very logical thought process.

Thankfully, when I got home this weekend, there was a Tupperware full of leftover hominy, already purchased for my consumption. Add a little lime and salsa, and you’ve got one yummy snack!

And now friends, it’s time for some Super Bowlin.005                              It looked nice until I tried to be crafty and add the lacing…

How do you feel about the Super Bowl?

I feel like it’s a great reason for a party.

What do your workouts look like next week?

I have no idea but I am thinking split squats will be making an appearance.

  1. Good luck not running–haha. Not being able to run is so tough because nothing else really gives you that endorphin high (at least in my experience). I agree that the Super Bowl is a fun excuse to have a party. I always have a good time watching it.

  2. Jean says:

Aye, just reading the word “squats” makes me hurt.

  3. Ah I need to do some split squats. I need to switch up my workouts with new exercises. Good for you for taking off running! :)
