Want to spice up your workday? Give it a little omphh? No matter how much you adore your job, we can all do with a mid-day pick me up every now and then. I have two tips to to help you perk up your day.
Number One: Make Your Mom Send You Surprises:
I. Have. The. Best. Mother. On. Earth.
No arguments, I am sorry, but you just can’t convince me otherwise.
When I opened my Valentines gift from her, a super stash of some of my favorite candies,
(That pack of gumballs is going to save me serious cash money, I can’t pass by a gumball machine without losing a quarter!)
I called her to tell her it was too much! That the baked goods, candy hearts, and Thin Mints I got her could never live up. She then informed me that there was yet ANOTHER! package on its way.
When I drove to pick it up from the post office Thursday, I expected something cutsie, maybe the Peter Pan DVD which is currently re-released. I almost had a heart attack and died when I opened it!
I am dead serous, it was a struggle to shield my co-workers from my shouts of astonishment and sheer glee as I dug through.
She got me a Garmin Forerunner 10!!!!
In a past life, I was anti-Garmin I was worried that I would become addicted to splits and mileage, and loose the ability to just run. The size and expense sure didn’t help either. And then, the Forerunner 10 happened. With the much more palatable price tag, and significantly smaller size, I was intrigued.
After buying one for my mom for Christmas (I am such a good daughter:)) and testing it out…I was hooked. Exactly what I was afraid of. I have yet to give it a go, but am hoping to be able to tomorrow!
Tip Number Two: Make Sure Local Bakers Have Access to Your Break Room.
You Know What Makes for a Great Friday?
Walking into the break room at work for a nice, nutritious mid-morning snack and being stopped in you tracks by…
Free cupcakes! Happy Friday indeed!
Quadriceps Tendinosis Update:
After being diagnosed with Quadriceps Tendinosis last week, I was prescribed plain ole Aleve as well as physical therapy. While I have been a bad patient, and have yet to follow up with a physical therapy appointment, I did get over my dislike of crap that covers up the real problems, aka, pain relievers and bought, and began taking Aleve.
I. Was. Shocked.
The pain is gone baby gone!
Thursday I was able to run 6 miles followed by a few select moves from Fitnessista’s Winter Shape Up, Week Two, Workout #2 and it felt oh so good!
Friday was 5 miles followed by 20 minutes on the elliptical, and abs
Saturday, a quick 6 miles on the treadmill (it was rainy and cold outside) before getting my hair done
And now friends, I’m off for a hot date with some chocolate mint fro yo and catch up on the Biggest Loser! Wohooo Saturday night! (But seriously!)
Did you have any moments that brightened your week this week?
How do you make your workday special?
If you get to run this weekend, feel free to Scream, and Shout, and Let it all out below!

I have that same Garmin, but in pink! I love it! Aren’t they the cutest Garmins ever??
Yes! The others are so darn cluncky, but the Forerunner 10 is perfect!
